CLASS WORK: Interpretive Illustration #9 - Anthropomorphized Celebrity

A weird but fun assignment, this week we had to take a celebrity and anthropomorphize them. I decided to take Jerry Holkins, the writer of Penny Arcade, and turn him into a bluebird. I don't know why, but that was my immediate reaction upon seeing this picture of him.

CLASS WORK: Interpretive Illustration #8 - Dog colouring and shading

A fun little in class where we had to take some linework of a dog and colour and shade it to look three dimensional. I tried to add some coloured lighting to give it some flair, though I'm not sure it worked too well.

CLASS WORK: Interpretive Illustration #7 - "MAD About Brainstorming" group project

This time, the assignment was to take "The Creation of Adam" and turn it into a joke, MAD Magazine style. We had to take the original image and mind map out three ideas before taking one and creating the final image. My partners for this assignment were Liam Johnston and Matt Winters, who helped come up with the ideas, and I drew the final image.

CLASS WORK: Interpretive Illustration #6 - Surrealism Punchlines

Another fun assignment this week. This time we were asked to take four comic strips without final panel and finish them, in a weird way if possible.

CLASS WORK: Interpretive Illustration #5 - Cubism object thumbnails

This was a fun one. Following a few guidelines, we had to take a photo of an object and make 18 thumbnails of cubist renditions of it. It took a few tries to really get going with it, but I ended up pretty happy with most of them.

CLASS WORK: Interpretive Illustration #4 - Cubism Photomerge

Another odd project, this time with photography.

For this one we had to take a bunch of photos of a thing or place from different angles and have photoshop automerge them together, creating an odd sort of collage. Then we has to make it an ad for something, mine was a very grey, cloudy day, so I decided to go with cold medicine (then I realized I don't know the names of any cold medicine off the top of my head, so I went with a pharmaceutical company instead.
